Here we have a new band for your radar – punk and roll outfit Blue Jinns.

Blue Jinns formed right here in Leeds during the summer of 2017 and are comprised of Kev on guitar and vocals, Adam on bass, Dale on guitar and Jamie on drums. The band are a product of ex-members of multiple hardcore and DIY Punk bands such as John Holmes, And None of Them Knew They Were Robots and HHH, which becomes evident once you check out their huge sound.

Last year saw the release of their anticipated debut EP ‘Sonic Viagra’. If you’re after some raucous, fast paced punk and roll music then look no further than here. Packed with hard guitar riffs and excellent vocals, Sonic Viagra barely gives you a chance to catch a breath with its eight tracks coming at you thick and fast.

Only ‘Nunchuck Strut’ surpasses the 3 minute mark, which paints the picture of the style of music Blue Jinns are creating. The band themselves describe the music as ‘blasting gritty punk and roll, HARD and FAST’ and I couldn’t have put it any better myself.

Today marks the release of their brand new single ‘Drinking From The Skull of My Favourite Enemy’ which is accessible on all good streaming websites, including Spotify. The band produce, record, mix and master all of their own material and already have another two singles primed and ready to drop further down the line in 2019.

Check out the new single here:

I spoke to frotnman Kev regarding their new single:

“The new single was originally intended as a demo track for the new album. We recorded it with a few others while rehearsing at Blueberry Hill Studios, but it quickly became apparent to us that we could work on the production at home to a point which really represented how we sound as a band.”

In terms of their upcoming plans he said:

“We’re having a party to celebrate the release of the (new) single at Northern Guitars on the 15th of March which is free to attend. Everyone who comes gets a free lanyard, done in the style of a touring lanyard for bands and crew.

“It has the lyrics on the reverse, are individually numbered and comes with a download which includes another track with has never been released before (recorded in the same sessions). The track will only be available to those who come to the gig.”

Finally, Kev told me regarding their plans for the year:

“We have another 2 tracks from the Blueberry Hill sessions, one of which we will be releasing in summer. Much more of a rock and roll/ classic r&b vibe than this single, definitely something to shake your backside to.

“Aside that we are 7 tracks in to writing a new album and the plan is to continue writing until we have more than we need, so we can take stock of what we have and what will make a cohesive release. I’m confident that it’ll all be written and recorded by the end of the year.”

The single release party will be held at Northern Guitars Cafe Bar on Call Lane, so make sure to get yourselves down there, as you don’t want to be missing out on the opportunity to wrap your ears around more new material!
